This prefab house, designed by Resolution: 4 Architecture, had one major objective: to accommodate a family of six. Located in East Hampton, New York on Long Island, the home stands as a retreat for a family that usually calls a Greenwich Village townhouse home.
The home’s owners wanted a stylish home to reside in for a weekend or for a few weeks in the summer, but above all wanted something that met the needs of their budget and their lifestyle.
“We were looking at it as a way to get both design and lower cost,” says homeowner Tanya Wexler the modular construction method. “The idea of building a stick-built house just seemed so expensive. And certainly with an eye for design and the finishes we had hoped for, we looked at this as an alternative.”
Although unconventional, the home provides the style, affordability, and large space, that the family demanded. [via Dwell]
