Orange Memorial Park is an already an important public recreation venue in South San Francisco, but its latest addition promises to make the park even more enjoyable. Marcy Wong & Donn Logan Architects designed this 6,400 sq. ft. recreation building, which is also surrounded by soccer, basketball, picnic and other outdoor amenities. The new building was designed with simple geometric forms and incorporated Western Red Cedar as a critical design element. Inside, there is even more cedar and glass to create a dynamic and inviting environment for the community. The design considered how the building was positioned in relation to the sun, and includes deep overhangs and sunshades to provide ample shade, while the interior also provides natural light and views.
