High in the hills above Alta Gracia, Argentina, STC Arquitectos built a modern home that embraces the natural beauty of its surroundings and that allows occupants to better “contemplate the environment.”
The design is influenced by the industrial history of Alta Gracia as well as by English style steel sheet houses. Designers cited trains and train stations as other inspirations for the home, dubbed Suburban House.
Despite its compact footprint, the house is open, airy and filled with light throughout. Views of the surrounding mountain and creek have been framed as well for a close connection to nature.
Furnishings are minimal, again reinforcing that the main focal point is the surrounding views and natural beauty just steps beyond the home’s walls. Designers also kept the color palette simple, with only subtle red accents to add visual interest.
