Located in the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, California, just below the famed Hollywood Sign, sits the Deronda Residence. Designed by Space International, the imposing 2,800 square foot home is a dramatic modern home composed of two main volumes.
The home’s exterior is distinctive and clean, but it’s also designed to frame the surroundings. Terraces and large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass windows provide expansive views of the picturesque hills. Tall pine trees surround the perimeter of the property, giving a sense of privacy and tranquility.
The two different volumes serve very different purposes. The volume on the ridge, includes public spaces that overlook the outdoor spaces. This layout was devised in order to extend the living, dining, and kitchen areas, and create a more open interior space.
Private bedrooms and bathrooms are grouped in an enclosed cantilevered bar, which hovers over the hillside.
