China has an official entry in the 2010 Solar Decathlon. Held this year in Madrid, the solar decathlon’s goal is to challenge collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. This entry employs Chinese architectural styling with green-building materials, bamboo, and cutting edge 21st century clean energy from solar power.
Created by students at Tongji University, the building was developed over a six month period before it was deconstructed and shipped to Spain for the European Solar Decathlon. The house will compete with 16 other prototypes in the decathlon.
